NDIS for small business people

Business Network Evening: NDIS for small business people

Wednesday 20 September at 6pm at Gippsland Business Centre, 155 Queen St, Warragul.  Tickets available on EVENTBRITE.

The rollout of Australia’s $22 billion National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will reach Gippsland on 1 October 2017.

In a move towards greater social inclusion, the NDIS is shifting welfare-style, block funding for providers to one that directly funds people with disabilities.

NDIS for small business: Image from Parents: Do you see my child first or his disability?

Essentially, NDIS will give people with a disability, their families and carers, choice and control of services needed to help them live life in ways that work for them from everyday activities to personal interests, education, work and travel.

So what does this mean for Gippsland’s small businesses?  The changed funding mechanism effectively means the NDIS scheme opens up an entirely new market.

Put another way, nearly half a million Australian people with disabilities are about to go shopping for the first time, rather than being passive recipients of services.

As customers, they will want direct access to Gippsland businesses such as retailers, hospitality, tourism and accommodation; health and fitness; education, training and employment; real estate, all sorts of trades; transport, health and leisure; IT and e-marketing, etc.

Alongside Uber or Air Tasker style websites, new sites such as Clickability and Care Navigator are springing up to guide people with disabilities through NDIS registered businesses in a TripAdvisor format.

NDIS for Small Business People network evening offers the chance to meet with NDIS participants, providers and learn first hand why every Gippsland business owner should register and be part of this new initiative.

Tickets: Warragul Business Group Members $10, Non members $20.

Drinks and nibbles provided.

Tickets and RSVP: 03 5624 3800 or via Eventbrite
