Business is booming for cybercriminals

Cybersecurity: keeping yourself, your business and customers safe from cybercriminals

Small business is an easy target for 47 per cent target for attacks by cybercriminals.

In the past year alone, the Australian Cyber Security Centre identified 47,000 cyber incidents and over half of these incidents were online scams or frauds – an equivalent of five incidents happening every hour in Australia.

Cybersecurity Network Evening ImageCybercriminals have specifically targeted small business owners, from the WannaCry ransomware attack that caused several Australian small businesses to lose access to their data, to sophisticated email hacking scams where criminals stole millions of dollars from Australian law firms and real estate agents.

The introduction of mandatory data breach reporting also means that many small businesses are now at risk of 6-figure fines if they don’t inform their customers when they experience a security breach.

GippsTech founder Elena Kelareva will help you understand cybersecurity risks and how to protect yourself, your business and customers.

Her talk will uncover the biggest risks; security for your network and hardware devices; password security and keeping cybercriminals from gaining access to your online accounts; how to protect your website visitors’ data and prevent hackers from taking down your website; and how to prevent email scammers from stealing money from your business.
